To strengthen and continue business/historical preservation and culture in downtown Taylor by using the comprehensive approach of design, economic restructuring, organization and promotion.

In the Heart of The Blackland Prairie


The Main Street Program is a downtown revitalization within the context of historical preservation. The Taylor Main Street Programs support the redevelopment of the downtown area through historical preservation, education, economic development and heritage tourism.

We envision a culturally diverse and economically viable downtown which attracts both Taylor citizens and visitors to its unique mix of historic buildings, shops, restaurants, services and old town atmosphere.

The Downtown Rental/Purchase Assistance Program is available for those new businesses who need help getting started.

Blackland Prairie Days
Every spring, Taylor Main Street hosts Blackland Prairie Days on the first weekend in May. The festival is held in the heart of downtown and features horticultural speakers and demonstrations, arts and crafts vendors, food booths, children's activities and live entertainment. Blackland Prairie Days is a Taylor Made Texas signature event.

Main Street Car Show
Each fall, the Main Street Car Show attracts more than 300 vintage, historic and exotic cars, trucks, motorcycles and military vehicles to the streets of Downtown Taylor. The MCS offers a variety of vendors, entertainment, exquisite vehicles and family-friendly fun for all to enjoy. The Main Street Car Show is a Taylor Made Texas signature event.

Let's  Swirl | Wine Swirl
It's an exciting night to kick off the holiday season. The tasting happens on Friday, December 1, 2017, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. in Historic Downtown Taylor. Cost is $40 per person and includes tastings from 10 different wineries, 4 food establishments, a tasting glass and wine bag. Food trucks will be on the 100 block of West Fourth St. Live music by "Not Past Eleven," a Big Band swing group. Free limo rides to the winery locations!

Main Street Christmas Bazaar
Set for Saturday, December 2, 2017, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at City Hall, 400 Porter St. Booths will be indoors in the Auditorium and outdoors in the parking lot. Food vendors will be on site. Fee for a booth is $50 for a 10'x10' space. Electricity is $10; limited supply, first-come, first-served.
