2015 Schedule of Events

JANUARY
January 1:  City offices and Library Closed.  NO garbage services; pickup schedule moved one day; Thursday pickup on Friday; Friday pickup on Saturday.

January 19:  Martin Luther King, Jr. Observance.  Parade starts at Robinson Park followed by program at City Hall.

FEBRUARY
February 16:  President's Day:  City offices closed.

MARCH/
APRIL

April   Relay for Life® is a fun-filled event designed to celebrate survivorship and to raise money to help the American Cancer Society save lives, help those who have been touched by cancer, and empower individuals to fight back against this disease. Begins at 5:00 pm at Taylor Memorial Field. For more information contact Debbie Grimm at 352-8966.

April 18: Citywide Spring Clean Up sponsored by the City of Taylor Public Works Department starts at 8:00 am –3:00 pm with two drop off locations: 1424 N Main at Public Works Department and Welch Street.  Free to all residents who must show proof of city residency.  

April 4 - Easter Egg Hunt  at 10:00 am at Heritage Square. Children will be divided into two age groups, ages one through three; ages four though six.  One parent or adult must accompany each child. For more information call or e-mail Deby Lannen at 512/352-3463.

MAY
May through October-- Taylor Area Farmer's Market
Local area farmers sell fresh produce at corner of 5th and Main St every Monday and Friday afternoon from 3:00 to 6pm.  

May 2nd – Taylor Blackland Praire Days . Live talent, food, arts & crafts, children’s activities in downtown Taylor beginning at 10:00 am.   Contact Deby Lannen at 512/352-3463 or deby.lannen@taylortx.gov for more information.

May 23rd – City of Taylor swimming pools, Murphy Park Aquatic Center and Robinson Pool, open for the summer. 

May 25thMemorial Day .  City offices closed.  Garbage services NOT affected. 

JUNE
Taylor Truck and Tractor Pull;  at the East Williamson County Arena. Contact Teddy Grimm at 512-970-8756 for more information.

JULY
July 4th – Taylor Independence Festival Day held at Murphy Park.  Tennis tournament.  TIF Fireworks at dark. Sponsored by the Taylor Chamber of Commerce.  

July 17-18th: Taylor Rodeo Association Annual Rodeo.  Williamson County Arena, 210 Carlos Parker Blvd. Gates open at 6 pm; rodeo starts at 8 pm with music from 10-midnight on Friday and 10-1 am on Saturday.  Contact Teddy Grimm for more information at 512-970-8756.

AUGUST

August 21-22:  Taylor International BBQ Cook off sponsored by the Circleville Store, 600 State Highway 95, 5 miles north of Taylor.  Call 512-352-6848 for more information or visit http://www.circlevillestore.com  

August 29:  KidFish at Bull Branch Park.  Registration begins at 8:30 am and fishing starts at 9 am.  Free to children under age 16.

SEPTEMBER

September 7th: Labor Day Holiday .  City offices closed.  Garbage services NOT affected.

September 11th 9/11 Parade and Program. This event is sponsored by the Taylor Fire Department and the First Baptist Church.  Contact Matthew Whisenant for more information.

September 12th:  The "Sky's the Limit" Fly a Kite Day.  Registration begins at 9 am; event starts at 10 am; judging at 2 pm.  Food; prizes, fun!  Taylor Regional Park, 210 Carlos Parker Blvd.  Call 512-365-7669 for more information as a participant, sponsor, or vendor.

OCTOBER

October 17:  City Wide Fall Clean Up from 8-3 pm. 

October (2nd Saturday) 10: Good Life family festival at Bull Branch Park; corner of Davis and North Lynn. 5k race starts a 8 am.  All funds raised benefit the Taylor Animal Shelter. Contact Julie Rydell at 512-294-1972 or visit http://www.goodlifetaylor.com for more information.

November 11th – Veterans Day: City offices closed.  Garbage services NOT affected.

November 26-27  Thanksgiving Holidays: City offices closed; NO garbage pickup on Thursday (moved to Friday) and Friday pickup moved to Saturday.

 
DECEMBER

December 5 – Christmas Parade of Lights travel down Main Street beginning at 7 pm. Contact Tammy Eulenfeld at 512-352-8314.
